The University of Rostock has conducted a study on the conversion of an existing pilot boat to use LNG as fuel.

As part of work package 3.2 “Preparation of analysis presenting types of small-ships in use for conversion to LNG usage” of the Interreg – South Baltic project “Liquefied (bio-)gas as a driving force for development and use of green energy technology”, the University of Rostock has developed a first concept for integrating LNG fuel tanks in such small craft. First analyses of ship hydrostatics and structural strength show the feasibility of a conversion to LNG.
